CDP launches mobile software service

handheld/mobile Oracle partner CDP announces the release of its new mobile application development service for businesses. The application development service designed and built in house, enables businesses to provide mobile staff with wireless access to centralised data from any mobile handset or handheld device. The service was launched at the Internet Wireless World show at Earls Court, London on 11 June 2002.

"We developed our "unplugged" service specifically for remote and mobile staff after recognising their need to have access to centralised information and applications while out of the office," said Tim Chrisp, managing director, CDP. "Our solution offers mobile staff faster and easier wireless access to necessary data and enables more rapid and real-time exchange of business information."

The service has multiple applications to a variety of business functions, from mobile sales teams checking prices and logging new customer orders to off-site project managers updating plans and time sheets and delivery drivers accessing instructions or directions.

"We already have two users ahead of the official launch on 11 June," said Chrisp. "Firstly, a Formula One racing team has used the CDP service to develop a mobile trackside system enabling engineers and mechanics to configure their cars for peak performance. Secondly, a construction company is currently using our service to create an efficient and cost-effective method for use by project managers, to enable them to communicate more effectively with head office whilst on-site."
