The British Tourist Authority (BTA) - Operating in 27 overseas markets, works in partnership with the national tourist boards in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to promote an attractive image of Britain. The Media Services department, based in London, is responsible for the production and delivery of printed materials such as magazines, brochures, leaflets and posters that are used in marketing Britain. The production of any one of these materials can involve several internal departments and external suppliers:
Internal Departments - design, editorial, print production, distribution etc.
External Suppliers - design agencies, advertising agencies, translators, printers etc.
Problems can occur because of poor communication between these internal departments and external suppliers. Consequently, Media Services identified the need for a project management system that would help improve co-ordination and communication.
CDP was consulted for
analyses of the users of the publishing project management system
creation of a user profile
the user requirements specification documentation.
Publishing Project management System best suited for the requirements identified
The Media Services Department relied on CDP's expert technical analysis and insight into the current technologies to suggest a potential Publishing Project Management System thereby aiding their IT strategy decision making process.
